Horstmann, the manufacturer of domestic and commercial heating controls for electrical and gas heating systems, has joined the Entity Group. The move creates the UK's most advanced, interoperable range of smart metering and home control solutions.
Long established, Horstmann has a pre-eminent position in the UK for smart metering and demand side energy management products, which use the UK Radio Teleswitch system. Entity Group's UK interests include PRI, which shares the same vision and strategic synergy for smart metering and home energy controls. Each business remains focused on its own customer base and markets.
Individually, PRI and Horstmann are recognised as leaders of the smart metering agenda and have several live UK projects. By promoting smart metering's benefits, both businesses see energy conservation through active involvement of domestic energy users, as a key element of the climate change debate.
Sanjaya Singhal, Entity Group's CEO comments: "Horstmann is a perfect fit for our strategy to deliver Smart metering in the UK - and for our global Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) roadmap. Its experience and knowledge of home controls and display devices, combined with a strong development team, will develop the company as a centre of excellence in these areas."
Horstmann will still be led by managing director Les Woolner and engineering and operations director Andy Deeming. Mr Woolner says: "This move provides us with the necessary technological and financial resources to address the rapidly developing Smart metering market - and build our position in heating controls. With our success in bringing new products and services to market, as part of the Entity Group, we will respond even more quickly to the challenges ahead."
