On the back of a growing global interest in Advanced Metering Infrastructure - AMI, PRI is developing a complete portfolio of interoperable, smart metering solutions, which includes SLiM.
SLiM is an enabling concept, designed to move the smart metering interoperability issue from debate to deployment without having to put aside other device-level interoperability models. In doing so, it opens the door to smart metering deployment without closing off any options in the future.
The solutions are in line with SRSM (Supplier Requirements for Smart Metering),which will benefit distribution and communication network operators, suppliers and end-customers.
This pioneering, fully interoperable service layer enables seamless, two-way communication to the customer's premises.
Offering metering devices, communications network and SLiM as an end-to-end service between suppliers significantly benefits change of supplier (COS) processing. Such interoperability provides market participants with industry standard gateways to existing and legacy systems.
Suppliers and service providers can then offer innovative, value added competitive services through the interface - separate from regular SRSM compliant interfaces. In addition, this supports established D-flow based services and newly developed systems.
The solution enables:
- Customer empowerment.
- Network efficiency.
- Reduced cost-to-serve for energy retailers.
- Revenue completeness.
- Government facilitation.
- Value-added service delivery.
